Jordan Rubin’s (founder of ‘Garden of Life, Inc.’) Natural Health Testimony

09 May

In 1994, Jordan Rubin was a healthy, active 19 year-old college student, when he was diagnosed with Crohn’s colitis, a sometimes fatal “wasting disease” characterized by long-term inflammation of the bowel.

As in most chronic conditions, Jordan’s immune system began to fail. He suffered from intestinal parasites, severe Candida, extreme anemia, food allergies, diabetes, excruciating abdominal pain, chronic diarrhea, poor circulation, liver problems, chemical sensitivities, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, arthritis, insomnia, hair loss, prostate and bladder infections, irregular heartbeat, eye inflammation, and chronic depression. Jordan’s weight dropped from 180 lbs to a low of 104 lbs at a height of 6′1″. Jordan visited over 70 health professionals from more than 7 countries and tried more than 300 supplements; however, his illness did not respond to conventional or complimentary medical approaches.

In 1996, after a two-year battle, Jordan stopped using all supplements, ceased visiting doctors and began an intense study of nutrition. His diet consisted of nothing but whole, living, enzyme and probiotic rich foods and one nutritional compound he later named HSO’s™ or Homeostatic Soil Organisms™. In Jordan’s case, the HSO’s™ detoxified his intestinal tract, increased his ability to absorb nutrients from food, and boosted his immune system. Moreover, the HSO’s™ turned really agressive against pathological molds, yeasts, fungi, and parasites of all types, which permeated his gut.

Within four months, Jordan’s weight returned and his body began to heal itself. It has been six years since his recovery, and he exhibits no symptoms of the disease that almost took his life. Jordan is now a certified nutritional consultant, certified personal fitness instructor, and CEO and Founder of Garden of Life, Inc. He is now dedicated to sharing with you the health secrets that brought him “back to life”.

Jordan earned the designation as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from Peoples University of the Americas School of Natural Medicine, and most recently earned a PhD in Nutrition from Academy of Natural Therapies. He is also a Certified Nutritional Consultant, a member of the American Association of Nutritional Consultants, and a member of the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He resides in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, with his wife, Nicole.

5/5. Access to Nutrients Threatened, Natural Medicine

09 Mar

http://www.encognitive.com
The 28th Meeting of the Codex Alimentarius Commission in Rome, July 4th to 9th, 2005, ratified vitamin and mineral supplement standards more restrictive that the US Dietary supplement health and Education Act (DSHEA). The restrictive Codex guidelines, while not limiting United States consumers’ access to supplements immediately, could lead to worldwide restrictive supplement standards. DSHEA is a more appropriate international standard.

The Codex guidelines, developed over eight years by the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU), treat nutrients as toxic chemicals, calling on the FAO/WHO Nutrient Risk Assessment Project to set upper consumption limits.

If the Commission adds the restrictive vitamin and mineral standards to the Codex Alimentarius it is likely to become the model relied on when Codex, WHO, FAO, the European Food Safety Authority, the FAO/WHO Nutrient Risk Assessment Project and/or any other international standards setting body creates international standards for other dietary supplements such as herbs.

Key Points:

Consumers believe world-wide health is undermined by the limits to nutrients recommended by Codex guidelines that will likely be used by many countries.

Codex vitamin and mineral guidelines, themselves, will not change U.S.laws but will create political pressure to change U.S.law.
Codex establishes a flawed toxic chemical risk assessment model to regulate helpful nutrients. This approach treats nutrients as dangerous chemicals and ignores nutrition science and supplement benefits.
Codex is not, and should not be confused with, the European Food Supplement Directive (EFSD). The EFSD–if upheld in court–will strictly limit European access to many dietary supplements beginning August 1, 2005. This law governs European markets and is not part of Codex, although both bodies treat dietary supplements as toxic chemicals rather than beneficial nutrients.
Natural health consumers must remain organized to protect and expand our health rights. Take action today to support DSHEA as the international standard for dietary supplements!
